Leica D-lux4 and Panasonic Lumix LX3

Panasonic LX3 black

Panasonic LX3 with Lensmate 46mm
black adapter and OEM lens cap

Precisely machined from 6061 aluminum, in either black or silver anodized finish they complement the style of the Panasonic LX3 and Leica D-Lux 4.

Allows the attachment of:

Panasonic LX3 silver
Panasonic LX3 with Lensmate 46mm
silver adapter and OEM lens cap

The OEM lens cap was designed to clip into the trim ring (which is removed to attach the lens adapter tube) rendering it useless when you want to use a lens adapter.

We thought that this lens cap was too pretty to be replaced with a generic one, so designed the little tabs which allow the use of the original cap either clipped into the Lensmate 46mm lens adapter (or a 46mm filter). The lens cap tabs go on with a snap and are easy to remove when you want and retain the full function of the cap.

We think you'll agree that our lens adapter is attractive enough to leave on the camera all the time. Great for traveling and street photography - you can leave the camera on, ready for action without worrying about bashing that gorgeous Leica lens.

Precisely machined from Delrin, then laser engraved, these lens cap adapters let you use the OEM lens cap on 46mm lens adapter tubes and 46mm filters. They go on with a snap and can easily be removed. Available in white Delrin for silver cameras too.

Instructions: Align groove on the back of the tab with lens cap retainer and press until tab snaps into position. Ready to use.

Lecia Dlux4 and Panasonic Lumix LX3 FAQ

1. Can I use the OEM lens cap with the custom clips on a filter?
Yes, the custom clips allow you to attach the lens cap to either the adapter or a 46mm filter.

2. Can I use a 46 - 52mm step ring with 52mm filters?
Yes, you may use a 46-52mm step ring with a 52mm filter with no vignetting.

3. Why do I need a polarizer? do I need a linear or a circular polarizer?
A polarizer deepens blue skies and takes the glare off water and glass. For an excellent comparison see below. You can use either a linear or a circular polarizer with the LX3/DLUX4. We sell the circular polarizer because it is available in a HMC multicoated filter where the linear polarizer is only available in black in a double coated.

Place your cursor over the image to see what it looks like when a polarizer is used. The two images were taken a few seconds apart.

4. What is the difference between a double coated filter and a HMC?
HMC means multi-coated or six layers of a coating (three per side). The HMC multi-coat greatly reduces flares when shooting into the sun or when the sun strikes the filter compared to the double coated (single coating per side).
