Lensmate S90 Adapter 37mm

price: $24.95

The Lensmate S90 adapter will accept any 37mm threaded filter. Each is CNC-machined of Delrin to precise tolerances. The adapter attaches directly to the lens barrel easily and securely using a strong but removable adhesive.

The adhesive system uses a firm, pressure sensitive silicone adhesive to bond to the camera and a high performance acrylic adhesive bonded to the adapter.  A durable polyester film protects the adhesive until installation.

Installation is simple.  Place the alignment tool over the retracted lens, peel the backing from the adapter and lower it into the tool.

If you wish to remove the adapter, another tool is provided to slice through the adhesive and easily separate the two surfaces without damaging the camera.  An adhesive kit is included allowing the adapter to be reused.

Richard Franiec's Canon S90 Grip

One of the biggest improvements you can make to a tiny camera is a better way to hold it -- and that's what Richard has done for the S90.

The Custom Grip for the S90 is individually 3D CNC machined from a solid block of aircraft-grade aluminum before being glass-bead blasted, black-anodized and nickel-sealed for durability and good looks.

The S90 grip sells for $32.95, click here for more info and images.

S90 Adapter FAQ

1. Does the adapter itself create a flash shadow?
At shorter (wider) focal lengths, the 37mm filter adapter will create a shadow in the right lower corner when the built-in flash is used. Click here for samples.

2. Why did you make a filter holder rather than a tube adapter?
Unlike other Canon camera models, the S90 does not have a mount at the base of the built in lens, so a regular tube adapter is not possible - given the restrictions of the S90 design, attaching a filter adapter on the lens barrel is the very best solution.

3. How much does the Lensmate S90 lens adapter weigh?
About 2 grams. A typical 37mm polarizer weighs about 10 grams for a combined weight of 12 grams - or less than half an ounce.

4. Will the camera be as "pocketable" with the S90 adapter added?
You'd probably not even notice the difference - total thickness of the S90 adapter itself is .150", or 3.8mm.

5. Will using the S90 lens adapter void my warranty?
If you need to send the camera in for service, just remove the lens adapter.  It will come off cleanly with no residue left on the camera.

6. Can I reattach the lens adapter after removing it?
Yes. An extra adhesive ring is included in the kit. See the instructional movie for details.

7. Can I attach a conversion lens with the adapter?
We recommend attaching only filters to the S90. We are working on a tripod socket mounted bracket for attaching conversion lenses.

8. Can I use more than one filter?
Stacking filters or using step rings may cause vignetting.

9. Can I use a macro lens or filter?
Yes, we recommend the Raynox DCR-250 macro lens as it is short and very light weight with a +8 magnification. Note that you can not attach the Raynox DCR250 directly to the cameras zoom lens, it requires the Lensmate S90 37mm filter holder and a 37-43mm step ring. The DCR250 macro lens comes in two parts with the S90 you would only use the smaller portion.

10. Why do I need a polarizer? do I need a linear or a circular polarizer?
A polarizer deepens blue skies and takes the glare off water and glass. For an excellent comparison see below. You can use either a linear or a circular polarizer with the Canon S90. A circular polarizer is a linear polarizer with an added element, which is required by some cameras - though none of the camera models we make adapters for.
